What are you ordering when you order light-up cheer bows?

Light-up cheer bows for teams: LED bows glowing purple on a dance team's high ponytails with pom poms at a night game

The cheer bow your squad already wears, with the light built in. Our light-up cheer bows are white cheer bows with built-in LEDs. Click the button on the bow to change the light colour, or let the bow cycle through the colours. Set every bow to the same colour and the whole squad glows together.

Three things matter for a coach:

  • White bows. With the lights off, the bows are white, so they go with any uniform; the light sets the colour.
  • One button on each bow. There is no remote or app: every athlete sets their own bow, so agree the colour before the squad goes out.
  • About 6 inches. Each bow is about 15.5 by 15 cm (6.1 by 5.9 inches) and about 60 g (2.1 oz), close to a 6-inch cheer bow; see the cheer bow size chart.
  • Tails. Tails come straight-cut, or we can cut them into classic triangle cheer-bow tails for your team.
  • Team orders. See the light-up cheer bows page for current pack sizes and team pricing.

The order works the way a team pom order does: the coach or spirit director sends the details, and the booster club or the program budget pays.

Where does a light-up bow earn its place, and where is a standard bow right?

A light-up bow works anywhere your squad performs. It glows in regular room lighting and under stage lights, and it stands out most when the lights drop. A standard ribbon bow is still fine for practice and camp.

Moment Light-up bow Standard bow
Competition day: the mat, the stage under arena lighting, awards Yes: every athlete in one colour, glowing under the arena lights The classic look, without the light
Night football, on the sideline or the track Yes: where the squad stands in shadow, the bow still reads from the stands Reads under the floodlights, fades in the shadow
Lights-out openers and lights-down moments: intros, halftime features, light shows Yes: the bow stays visible when the arena goes dark Goes dark with the room
All-star showcases and exhibitions Yes: your own show, in front of your own families Reflects light, doesn’t make it
Banquets and senior nights Yes: the walk-out and the team photo in a dim room Daytime ceremonies
Night parades and homecoming Yes: visible at curb distance between streetlights Daytime parades
Practice, camp and daytime games No need Yes

Count the performances on your calendar: competitions, night games, openers, showcases and banquets. If the bow will be seen at most of them, a light-up set earns its place. See which venues make light-up gear worth buying, cheer showcase night ideas and cheer banquet ideas.

How do light-up bows match your light-up poms?

Light-up cheer bows change color with one button: the same LED cheer bow in lilac, blue, green and red
One bow, one button: each click moves the light to the next colour.

By setting them to the same colour. Our light-up LED pom poms change colour by remote, so the whole squad’s poms switch together, and the diodes are built into the pom, not a single light in the handle. The bows work differently: each bow has its own button. To match, every athlete clicks the bow to the pom colour before the squad goes out. On a dark sideline that is the point: lit poms with plain bows leave the top of every athlete in the dark, and lit poms with bows in the same colour read as one block of light from the top row.

  • Pick the colour before warm-ups, and have the captain check every bow against the poms.
  • A colour change during the game means the poms switch by remote and every athlete clicks the bow, so plan it for a break, not mid-routine.
  • The bows’ colour cycle suits a showcase finale or a team photo better than a matched sideline.

Where should a light-up cheer bow sit?

High. A cheer bow sits at the crown, on top of a high ponytail, over the elastic, with the two tails hanging down over the ponytail. That is where it reads from the stands and where it stays clear of the athlete’s eyes.

  • Same height on every athlete. Line the squad up and check from behind and from the side before the first game. One bow sitting low breaks the line more than a late motion.
  • Tails straight, not twisted, so both hang over the ponytail.
  • Captain check before the squad goes out: every bow on, every bow the same colour, the same as for poms.
  • Photograph the squad once under the lights you perform in, so everyone sees what the stands see.

How many bows and poms should a squad order?

One bow per athlete, plus spares for the coach’s bag, and one pom pair per athlete plus two spares. Poms are at our team rate of $120 a pair on 10 or more pairs:

Squad Light-up bows Pom pairs, with 2 spares Poms at the team rate
Squad of 10 See the product page 12 $1,440
Squad of 16 See the product page 18 $2,160
Squad of 24 See the product page 26 $3,120

See the light-up cheer bows page for current pack sizes and team pricing. Spares matter more on the road than at home: a bow left in a car before an away game is the one you can’t replace that night.
