LED Pom Poms — Team Order
Metallic streamers with LEDs built into the pom, a rechargeable pack, and one remote that changes the whole team’s color at once.
$120 USD per pair · 10-pair minimum
For Texas drill team directors picking a new line at tryout clinics: our LED pom poms change color together on one remote, so the whole line glows in team colors at the first lights-down halftime, and the metallic streamers work as regular poms in daylight. Team pricing is $120 a pair on 10+ pairs.
What should a Texas drill director order once the new line is set?

Order the pair count once the results are posted, not before. A Texas line is picked at one tryout a year, and its size moves with the candidates: the Highland Belles at Highland Park High School say there is no predetermined number of Belles, and the judges select on each candidate’s ability (source: Highland Belles: Belle Hopefuls). So the order follows the roster, and the roster follows the clinic.
What to order for the new line:
- One pair per dancer, officers included. Our LED pom poms are made to order in your team colors, at $120 a pair on 10 or more pairs.
- A set that works day and night. The streamers are full metallic, so the poms read as regular poms at a 7 p.m. kickoff, and the LEDs built into each pom (over 100 per pom, not one light in the handle) take over when the stadium lights drop for a halftime light show.
- One remote for the whole line. Every pair changes color together, so 40 dancers switch on the same count.
Keep your regular practice poms for rehearsals and daylight parades. The light-up set is for the moments the crowd films.
The 2026–27 Texas tryout clinic calendar
Texas lines do not all pick on the same weekend. These are the dates programs have posted for this cycle on their own pages:
| Program | Clinic or prep | Tryout or audition | Pom order window |
|---|---|---|---|
| Highland Belles, Highland Park High School | Mandatory candidate and parent meeting Oct. 29, 2026; tryout clinics Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, 6:30 to 7:45 a.m.; mock tryouts Dec. 3 | Dec. 5, 2026 | December into spring: a full off-season before football |
| Mansfield ISD drill teams (five high schools) | Parent meetings Jan. 12 and 13, 2027; spring clinics before each campus tryout; applications Dec. 14, 2026 to Feb. 19, 2027 | March 1 to 4 (Timberview), March 8 to 11 (Legacy, Mansfield, Summit) and March 22 to 25 (Lake Ridge), 2027 | Late March and April, as each campus posts its line |
| Texas Tech Pom Squad (college) | Fall training clinics Oct. 18 and Nov. 1, 2026, 8:30 a.m. to noon, $110, grades 9 to 12 and above | The college’s own tryout | Your seniors are being recruited while you plan next year |
| Tyler Junior College Apache Belles (college) | Pow Wow Camp in June is recommended | May 22 and 23, and June 26 and 27, 2027, for the 81st line; $20 application fee | Your graduates audition while your new line forms |
Two details from Mansfield ISD are worth copying for any district: only a parent or guardian can submit the application, and every candidate needs a current athletics physical (source: Mansfield ISD drill team). Paperwork that is settled before clinic week leaves the week for dancing.
Teaching the pom routine during clinic week
At Highland Park, candidates learn three routines during clinic week, kick, jazz and pom, then perform them for a judging panel in small groups, and they are evaluated all week on flexibility and skill. The new team is announced right after the judges decide (source: Highland Belles: Belle Hopefuls). The pom routine is where a director sees sharp motions, clean levels and timing with a prop in each hand.
Three things help that routine read on tryout day:
- Demonstrate with the line’s own poms. When officers teach holding the game set, candidates see the exact levels and angles the panel will look for.
- Count every pom hit. Mark each hit, level change and ripple on the counts sheet you hand out, so candidates drill the same material at home.
- Post the dress code and the material. Candidates should bring what your packet lists and nothing else, which keeps every eye on the dancing.
Candidates audition with the material you post. The light-up set belongs to the line, for the showcase and the season.
A lights-down showcase on the last night of clinic

Clinic week is recruiting week too. Parents come to the candidate meeting, younger dancers watch the line they want to join, and the last night is the one families remember. A short showcase by the current line, with the gym lights down and every pom glowing the same color, shows candidates exactly what they are trying out for.
How to stage it in ten minutes:
- Seat candidates and parents on one side of the gym.
- Turn off the house lights and leave one work light by the door.
- Open in team colors, change color on one count with the remote for the hook of the song, and finish in the school color for the photo.
- Bring the lights up and go straight into the week’s announcements.
Let the officers lead it, which shows candidates the leadership spots as well. Film it from the bleachers: that clip is next year’s clinic invitation.
What does a full drill line cost at the team rate?
Our only published price is the team rate: $120 a pair on 10 or more pairs. Line sizes vary, so here is the math by roster size:
| Group | Pairs | Cost at the team rate |
|---|---|---|
| Small varsity line | 20 | $2,400 |
| Mid-size line | 40 | $4,800 |
| Large line | 60 | $7,200 |
| Varsity and JV lines together | 80 | $9,600 |
Every pair is two poms, about 7 oz each, and one remote runs the whole set. If your booster club funds props, bring this table and your roster to the next meeting; see how to get light-up pom poms funded by your booster club.
From tryout results to the first Friday night game
| When | What to lock in |
|---|---|
| The week results post | Final roster count with officers, team colors and the first game you want the set for |
| Same week | Email us the pair count and your date |
| Booster or campus sign-off | The cost line from the table above, with the roster attached |
| Summer camp and rehearsals | Charge the set and teach the color-change counts with the halftime routine |
| First home game | A lights-down pregame or halftime in team colors |
Our poms are rechargeable and run 3 to 4 hours per charge (white and rainbow modes drain faster), so charge before every game, switch them off between numbers and give one officer the remote. The same set carries the line through football, pep rallies and the spring show.
Competition rules vary by event, so check with your event producer before using anything lit in a judged routine.

Frequently asked questions
When are Texas drill team tryout clinics held?
It depends on the program. The Highland Belles hold tryout clinics Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, 2026, with tryouts Dec. 5, while Mansfield ISD campuses hold tryouts between March 1 and March 25, 2027. Check your program’s own page for its dates.
How many pairs of poms should a drill team order?
One pair per dancer, officers included, plus a spare pair if you want a backup. Team pricing is $120 a pair on 10 or more pairs, so a 40-dancer line is $4,800.
Do LED pom poms work as regular poms in daylight?
Yes. The streamers are full metallic, so they read as regular poms in daylight. The LEDs built into each pom take over when the lights go down.
Can the whole line change color at once?
Yes. One remote changes every pair together, so the whole line switches color on the same count.
How long do the poms run on a charge?
3 to 4 hours per charge. White and rainbow modes drain faster. They are rechargeable, so charge the set before every game.
Should candidates bring light-up poms to tryouts?
No. Candidates should follow the program’s posted dress code and material. Our poms are for the line once it is picked, for showcases and the season.
