What can a costume or prop team order for a prom, homecoming or pep rally scene?
Prom, homecoming and the pep rally are crowd scenes in dark rooms, each with a moment when the light has to land. We design and build the light-up pieces for those scenes, and we sell them outright, so they stay with your production for reshoots.
- Wardrobe: light-up looks for the leads, from our LED fringe sequin dress to one-off pieces designed for a character.
- Multiples: matched sets for the dance floor, the court or the squad, in your colors.
- Hand props from scratch: crowns, a lit corsage or the glowing prop the plot turns on.

Every piece has the LEDs built in, with color by remote or a button and a rechargeable pack hidden in the costume or prop. Custom work is quoted.
Prom and homecoming looks that light on cue
The prom is the scene where the lead walks in and the room turns. Our LED fringe sequin dress is a sequin bodysuit with one layer of LED fringe from a V seam at the hips, so the light moves when she does. Color and light mode change by remote, including a single solid color, it runs about 4+ hours per charge on a USB pack, and it comes in XS to 4X. For a lead with her own look, we design one-off light-up wardrobe from your sketches.
Homecoming adds the court. Our LED rhinestone gem headpiece sets hundreds of hand-set crystals across the brow and lights them in color, and we build custom crowns from scratch for the king and queen. Plan a hero crown with working light for the close-ups, and a stunt version, soft and light, for the scene where it gets knocked off.

Pep rally and game-night scenes: poms and bows for the squad
A pep rally in a dark gym is the fastest way to show a whole school at once, and the squad becomes the light source. Our light-up LED pom poms have the LEDs built into the pom itself, not one light in the handle. One remote changes every pom together and reaches about 65 to 80 feet with line of sight, so the choreographer or a set costumer can cue the whole line from behind camera. Each pom is 7 oz on a rechargeable pack and runs about 3 to 4 hours per charge; white and rainbow drain it faster, so plan swaps between setups.
Add our light-up cheer bows: white bows about 6 by 6 inches, each with one button that steps through the colors or lets them cycle. Set every bow to the poms’ color before the take. For the game at night, a light-up set piece behind the bleachers gives the stands a glow without lighting every extra.

Hero pieces carry the working light for close-ups, stunt versions are soft for the dance-off or the fall, and background versions read at a distance. We build all three to match, in the same colors.
How many pieces does a teen cast need?
Count the hero pieces first: one for each principal, plus a double of every hero piece for continuity and reshoots. Then count the stunt versions for anything that gets danced in hard or dropped, and the background pieces for the dance floor or the squad. A squad of 12 on a pep rally day is 12 pairs of poms, 12 bows and two spare pairs on the costume cart.
Matched multiples are routine work for us. We made Missy Elliott’s hat plus 20 matching hats for her dancers, and we’ve outfitted Beyoncé’s dancers on tour. A dance floor of extras is the same job: one look, one color plan, every piece built the same way.
Shooting light-up wardrobe in a dark gym
Two recent teen titles show how much a school-night scene relies on light inside the frame. On HBO’s Euphoria, sodium streetlamps served as practical sources in Season 1 night scenes, and about half of Season 2 was shot on Ektachrome film (source: American Cinematographer). For Hulu’s 2024 comedy Prom Dates, cinematographer Bradford Lipson built his lighting design on practical lights such as table and floor lamps (source: What’s On Disney Plus).
Light-up wardrobe is practical light too: the source is in the shot, on the actor. Our pieces have been filmed for Apple’s iPhone 13 night-mode campaign and for Google’s commercials.
