For college dance team directors hosting clinics: end the day with your team performing under the lights, every pom changing color together on one remote, and prospects see the team they want to join. Our LED pom poms are 7 oz each, with team pricing at $120 a pair on 10 or more pairs.

What should a dance team director order before clinic season?

Prospects come to a clinic to learn your material and see your team up close. Your team’s poms are in both moments: the pom lesson and the closing performance. Make them poms a recruit remembers.

Our LED pom poms have the LEDs built into the pom itself, not one light in the handle. The full metallic streamers work as a regular pom in daylight, and each pom weighs 7 oz. One remote changes every pom on the team together, so the whole line switches color on the same count. They are rechargeable and run about 3 to 4 hours per charge.

The Purdue Golduster Dance Team ordered 24 pairs from us in September 2026 and performed with them on the field. The team rate is $120 a pair on 10 or more pairs.

Most run a half day. Texas Tech bars spectators for space, so the room is prospects, coaches and the team. Lamar caps its prospect weekend at 20 dancers. Several programs post fall and spring dates months ahead, which gives families time to plan.

What prospects learn at a dance team clinic

Prospects learn the material your tryout tests. Texas Tech’s schedule runs warm-up and technique, a hip-hop block, a master class, then pom lessons with team members and coaches before closing and awards (source: Texas Tech Pom Squad clinics). Valdosta State teaches a jazz and hip-hop routine plus game-day material (source: Valdosta State Athletics).

Dancers should wear what the program posts. Lamar asks for athleisure or dancewear in any color, jazz shoes, half soles or bare feet, and layers such as sweatpants or hoodies for hip-hop (source: Lamar University Dance Team events). Follow the posted dress code and material, and practice pom work at home; see pom routine practice for dance tryouts and how directors run dance team tryouts.

Close the clinic with your team under the lights

The last ten minutes are the recruiting pitch. Run them like a game-night moment:

  1. Team performs last, after the prospects’ showcase or awards.
  2. Lights down for the final count. The poms carry the room because the LEDs are inside the pom.
  3. One color change on a big count. The remote reaches about 65 to 80 feet, so a coach cues it from the side of the floor.
  4. Charge the night before; white and rainbow drain the battery faster than solid team colors.
  5. Film it for your next recruiting post; see dance team recruitment videos.

The same poms work at every night game, so the finale adds no extra cost to the season.

Prospect weekends and game-night recruiting

The best clinics put prospects at a game. Lamar’s All Access Prospect Weekend includes an open practice with the team, a game-day shadow experience with field access for the pregame performance, and a sideline field pass (source: Lamar University Dance Team events). That is where a recruit sees what being on your team feels like.

If your team performs at night games, that is the picture prospects take home: the whole line switching color together on one count. For the full clinic series, see college cheer and dance recruitment clinics.
