What can we build for a music video?
Many music videos are built around one image: the artist glowing in a dark room. We make that image’s wardrobe and props. Neon Cowboys designs and builds custom light-up pieces for artists, stylists and directors, and we sell them to the production. Custom work is quoted.
- The artist’s hero piece: a one-off jacket, suit, harness or accessory built to the treatment.
- Dancer multiples in custom colors, so the whole frame matches.
- Hand props from scratch: glowing crowns, helmets, glasses, devices and other pieces the artist performs with.
- Light-up set pieces that sit in the shot.
LEDs are built into each piece, color changes by remote, patterns can be programmed, and rechargeable packs hide in the costume or the prop.

We’ve outfitted Beyoncé’s dancers on tour, and Kacey Musgraves wore us on tour. Small pieces like glasses, a buckle or a hand harness carry the close-ups; a suit or a matched dancer line carries the wide shot.
Light that is part of the shot
Directors already build videos around practical lighting. For Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” production designer Jeremy Macfarlane said the look Director X wanted “could only be achieved if the architecture itself was emitting light,” so most of the walls were LED-backlit behind roughly 1,125 square meters of white Spandex, and the set pieces were built on castors to share one stage (source: Azure).
We put that light on the artist instead, in the wardrobe and the props, so it moves with the performance and is captured in-camera rather than added in post. Our pieces have been filmed for Apple’s iPhone 13 night-mode campaign and Google’s commercials. Talk to us about your camera and lighting plan before the build.

Hero pieces carry the close-ups and the working light. Stunt versions are soft and safe for action. Background versions carry less detail. If the shoot runs two days, order doubles for continuity.
Ready-made wardrobe for artists and dancers
Some looks need a one-off build; many can start from pieces we already make:
- LED harnesses: body, halter, rib cage and leg styles on black straps, color-changing by remote. Our adjustable LED harness adds strobe, fade and a sound-reactive mode, 4+ hours per charge.
- Light Up Nudie Inspired Suit: a western suit with hand-stitched 3D-printed appliqués and two different LED lighting techniques, rechargeable, in pink, blue or white.
- LED face stickers: six shapes, reusable and water resistant, on a replaceable CR2032 coin battery for about 4+ hours. They flash, blink and twinkle, with no solid mode. Hand them to adults and older teens.
- LED fringe sequin jacket: fringe front and back, a solid color or modes by remote, adjustable brightness, water resistant.

Neon Cowboys is a designer-led light-up fashion house founded in 2014 by Asia Hall, a computer science graduate and the daughter of couturier Kevan Hall. We design and make our light-up pieces ourselves, so a stylist talks to the people who build the piece. We have shown collections at New York and Los Angeles Fashion Week and built merchandise and an activation for Stagecoach with AEG and Live Nation.
