For cheer and dance coaches and booster clubs: fundraising ideas that each pay for a real order, led by the kids’ clinic, with the math from kids and fees to pairs of light-up poms and the costume pieces that come next.

For cheer and dance coaches and booster clubs: run a kids’ clinic first, then size every other fundraiser to one order. Twenty pairs of our LED pom poms is $2,400 at the team rate of $120 a pair on 10+ pairs, and the whole set changes color together on one remote.

Which fundraiser should a cheer or dance team run first?

Dance team fundraising showcase: seven dancers in gold tops wave pink LED pom poms on a dark stage as the audience films

The kids’ clinic. It is the one fundraiser that also recruits: young dancers and cheerleaders pay a fee, learn from your team and perform with you at halftime. Programs say what it pays for. In 2013 the Benilde-St. Margaret’s school paper in Minnesota reported that the dance team’s clinic for girls 4 to 12 raises money for the team’s costumes, accessories and other performance essentials (source: The Knight Errant, Benilde-St. Margaret’s). In 2018, Ponte Vedra High School’s Splash Dance Team charged $50 for a kindergarten to 8th grade clinic, with a T-shirt and a halftime performance at a junior varsity football game (source: Ponte Vedra Recorder).

Then name the purchase before you raise a dollar. A goal such as “20 pairs of light-up poms, $2,400” gives every family a number to hit. Our LED pom poms are made to order in your team colors, with LEDs built into the pom (not one light in the handle) and one remote that changes the whole team’s color together.

Six fundraising ideas, each sized to a real order

Idea Example math What it covers at $120 a pair
Kids’ clinic with a halftime performance 50 kids x $50 = $2,500 gross 20 pairs ($2,400) if a sponsor covers the shirts
Sponsor a pair 20 local sponsors x $120 20 pairs, one sponsor thanked per pair
Lights-down showcase night 200 tickets x $10 = $2,000 16 pairs ($1,920)
Kick-a-thon or pledge drive 30 dancers x $80 in pledges = $2,400 20 pairs ($2,400)
Restaurant spirit night A share of one night’s sales A top-up toward the order; ask the manager for the percentage
Senior night or banquet program ads Ads sold to families and local businesses Costume pieces for next season

Every number above is an example. Swap in your roster, your fee and your town, and keep each idea tied to a line on the order.

How many pairs of poms does one kids’ clinic buy?

Costs assume $10 a child for the shirt and a share of the gym. Our team rate is $120 a pair on 10 or more pairs.

Kids or participants x fee Gross Minus shirts and facility Net Pairs at $120 (10+ pairs)
40 x $40 $1,600 $400 $1,200 10 pairs ($1,200)
50 x $50 $2,500 $500 $2,000 16 pairs ($1,920)
80 x $50 $4,000 $800 $3,200 26 pairs ($3,120)
100 x $65 $6,500 $1,000 $5,500 45 pairs ($5,400)

Real 2026 totals show the range. Provo High Cheer’s junior clinic charged $45 and raised $8,237 against a $5,000 goal, and American Fork High Cheer’s mini clinic raised $3,253 against a $2,000 goal (sources: Provo High Cheer Junior Cheer Clinic, American Fork High Cheer Mini Clinic).

The kids’ halftime with your team’s poms lit behind them is the moment parents film. Those clips are next year’s registration ad. For the clinic itself, see junior cheer clinic fundraisers.

Sponsor a pair: the easiest ask for a booster club

A pair of our poms is $120 at the team rate. That is a clean ask for a local business, a grandparent or an alumni family: one pair, one performer, one season. Twenty sponsors cover a 20-pair line. Sponsors give to your booster club or team account, and the team places one order.

Thank each sponsor by name after the first lights-down game, with a photo of the team, so every sponsor sees the pair they paid for working. For the booster vote, bring the roster, the pair count and the cost line; see how to get light-up pom poms funded by your booster club.

A lights-down showcase night

Dance team fundraiser at a night game: seven dancers in black with orange LED pom poms on a dark stadium track

Sell tickets to a short show in your own gym: each team’s routines, a senior feature and a finale with the house lights off and every pom glowing. Families pay to see a show their dancers are in. At 200 tickets and $10 a ticket, that is $2,000, or 16 pairs at the team rate.

  • Keep it under an hour.
  • Sell concessions and run a raffle at the door.
  • Open the finale in team colors and change color on one count with the remote.
  • Announce next season’s clinic date from the floor while the lights are still down.

Kick-a-thons, spirit nights and program ads

Kick-a-thon. Dancers collect pledges per kick for a timed set, then perform the set for the sponsors. Thirty dancers bringing in $80 each is $2,400, a 20-pair order.

Restaurant spirit night. A local restaurant gives the team a share of one evening’s sales. Ask the manager for the percentage and the flyer rules first, and treat it as a top-up rather than the main fundraiser.

Program ads. Sell ads in the senior night or banquet program to families and local businesses. Put the ad money toward costume pieces, the next line after poms.

What the money buys: poms first, then costume pieces

Start with poms: every performer holds a pair, and our team rate is published, so the goal is easy to set.

Group Pairs Cost at the team rate
Small team 10 $1,200
Typical squad or line 20 $2,400
Large line 40 $4,800

Dance teams can put the next fundraiser toward costume pieces. Our LED fringe sequin jacket has LED fringe front and back and changes color by wireless remote, and our other light-up dance team pieces are priced per team; see light-up dance team outfits for team orders.

Frequently asked questions

Which fundraiser should a dance team start with?

A kids’ clinic with a halftime performance. It raises money and recruits next year’s team at the same time, and the halftime is the moment parents film.

How much does a set of team poms cost?

$120 a pair on 10 or more pairs. Twenty pairs is $2,400 and 40 pairs is $4,800.

How much do kids’ clinics charge?

Ponte Vedra High School’s Splash Dance Team charged $50 for its 2018 clinic, and the 2026 youth cheer clinics we checked charged $40 to $65.

Can sponsors pay for individual pairs?

Yes. Sponsors give $120 a pair to your booster club or team account, and the team places one order of 10 or more pairs at the team rate.

What should a booster club fund after poms?

Costume pieces for the next season, such as LED fringe sequin jackets for a dance team. Send us the roster and we will price them per team.

How long do the poms run on a charge?

3 to 4 hours per charge. White and rainbow modes drain faster. They are rechargeable, so one set works every game and showcase.
