How do you keep a whole troupe matched on show night?
Matching is planning. These steps keep 5 to 30 belts looking like one costume:
- Pick one base color for the whole order: pink, black or white.
- Send measurements early. We follow up for each dancer’s measurements, and a single sheet from the director saves back-and-forth.
- Label each belt with the dancer’s name when it arrives, since each one is made to that dancer.
- Charge every belt the night before, and again between shows on a double bill.
- Agree the light mode at dress rehearsal and set every belt to it backstage before places.
- Do a dark check with the house lights down to see the line from the back row.
The same routine works for the jacket and the harnesses: one color, set before places, checked in the dark.
Where the lit fringe earns its place in a routine
Use the light where the choreography gives the fringe something to do:
