For cheer coaches hosting a clinic: end it with your team performing under the lights with our LED pom poms, every pair changing color together on one remote, and let the clinic fees pay for the set. Team pricing is $120 a pair on 10+ pairs; light-up bows are on the product page, and custom face stickers are quoted.

What should a coach order before hosting a cheer clinic?

Three things, in this order:

  1. The team’s poms for the finale. A clinic is a recruiting day, and the last thing prospects see should be your team at its best. Our LED pom poms have LEDs built into the pom, not one light in the handle, and one remote changes the whole team’s color together: $120 a pair on 10 or more pairs.
  2. Bows that match. Our light-up cheer bows are white bows with built-in LEDs; a button on each bow sets the color, so the team’s bows match the poms on the finale. See light-up cheer bows for teams.
  3. A giveaway for the college prep session. Custom LED face stickers in your colors, from 1,000 units, quoted, for high school juniors, seniors and college students, never for a junior session.

The clinic fees can pay for the first one. The budget worksheet below shows how.

Choose your session types

Start with who you want in the gym. Texas Tech’s cheer program lists college prep, All-Girl, CoEd, elite stunt and Junior Spirit sessions, and says its college prep clinics are generally for high school juniors through college-age athletes (source: Texas Tech Cheer clinics). UConn runs a grades 9 to 12 prep clinic grouped by grade, not tumbling level, and a separate college prep and recruitment clinic for juniors, seniors, college students and transfers (sources: UConn Spirit prep clinics, UConn Spirit recruitment clinic).

One Division I program’s fall clinic flyer this season shows a clean split: a coed stunt session and a college prep and recruitment session, sold per session or as a bundle, open to high school juniors and seniors plus current college students, with all-girl flyers encouraged and no coed experience needed.

Run junior sessions on their own day, with their own schedule and halftime spot; see junior cheer clinic fundraisers.

Pricing, caps and registration rules

Clinic Price Who Registration rules
Texas Tech Pom Squad fall training clinic $110 Grades 9 to 12 and above No spectators, because of space
UConn college prep and recruitment clinic $100 High school juniors and seniors, college students and transfers Space limited for safety, no waitlist; same-day sign-up only if spots remain
UConn high school and college prep clinic $85 Grades 9 to 12, college students and transfers Grouped by grade; parents wait outside the gym
A Division I fall clinic (flyer) $75 a session or $100 for both High school juniors and seniors, current college students Online only, with a set deadline and no walk-ups
Grand Valley State Spirit Youth Clinic $65 K to 8 Registration May 4 to Sept. 1, or until capacity

Three rules worth copying. Cap by safety, not demand: stunting needs spotters, which is why UConn limits space. Register online with a deadline, so you order shirts and staff to the number. And announce dates early: one program posted two November clinic dates weeks ahead with a “mark your calendars” post and a registration link.

A clinic-day schedule that ends under the lights

How to run a cheer clinic: seven cheerleaders in green with green LED pom poms on a practice court as adults watch

Texas Tech posted a tentative schedule for its pom clinic that works as a template (source: Texas Tech Pom Squad clinics):

  • 8 a.m.: registration, photo opportunities, information tables and a merchandise store
  • 8:30 to 9:30: warm-up and technique
  • 9:30 to 10: hip-hop with team members
  • 10 to 11: master class
  • 11 to 11:30: pom lessons with team members and coaches
  • 11:30 to noon: optional improvisation
  • Noon: closing and awards

Add one block before awards: a five-minute finale by your team with the gym lights down, poms and bows lit in school colors, and one color change on the hook of the song. Prospects watch the team they are trying to make. Let waiting parents in for the finale only, then bring the lights up for awards.

Who do you need on staff for a clinic?

Role Job on the day
Clinic director (head coach) Runs the schedule, the master class and the recruiting conversations
Check-in lead Waivers, payments already taken online, name tags and shirts
Team members as group leaders Teach motions, jumps and sideline material in small groups
Stunt coaches and spotters Run every stunt group; your cap is the number of groups they can spot
Finale lead Charges the poms the night before, holds the remote and cues the lights
Recruiting coordinator Tracks standouts and any tryout bypass

Texas Tech says some clinics can earn a video bypass that skips the video round of a future tryout, though it does not guarantee a spot, and UConn gives some seniors and college students a Fast Pass to its second round of tryouts. A clear rule like that brings serious prospects in the door.

The clinic budget that pays for next season’s poms

A clinic is also a fundraiser. Costs below assume $15 a participant for the shirt and the facility share on a college prep clinic, and $10 a child on a junior session (the last row), so swap in your own quotes.

Kids or participants x fee Gross Minus shirts and facility Net Pairs at $120 (10+ pairs)
40 x $85 $3,400 $600 $2,800 23 pairs ($2,760)
60 x $100 $6,000 $900 $5,100 42 pairs ($5,040)
80 x $110 $8,800 $1,200 $7,600 63 pairs ($7,560)
50 x $50 $2,500 $500 $2,000 16 pairs ($1,920)

A college squad of 16 to 20 needs 16 to 20 pairs: $1,920 to $2,400 at the team rate. One good clinic covers it, and the set works every game after. Run a junior session too: the kids’ halftime with your team’s lit poms is the moment parents film, and those clips sell next year’s clinic. Giveaways for the college prep session

Prospects remember the clinic they left with something from. Custom LED face stickers in your shape and colors cover several clinics and game-day giveaways in one order.

Custom LED face stickers in your school’s shape and colors start at a 1,000-unit order and are quoted. A University of Texas alumni VIP suite ordered 1,000 from us; see custom LED face stickers in bulk.

Our stickers run on a CR2032 coin battery. Hand them to adults and older students, keep spares and used batteries away from young children, and follow the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s coin-battery guidance (source: U.S. CPSC). They are made for fans, guests and performers off the competition floor, not for athletes in a USASF cheer routine.

Keep stickers out of junior sessions entirely. The kids get a shirt and their halftime moment.

Frequently asked questions

How much should a cheer clinic cost?

College prep clinics we checked ran $85 to $110 in 2026: UConn charged $85 and $100, and the Texas Tech Pom Squad $110. Youth clinics ran $40 to $65.

How many participants should a cheer clinic take?

Cap by safety: count the stunt groups your coaches and spotters can run, then set the cap. UConn limits space for safety and keeps no waitlist.

Should a cheer clinic take walk-ups?

Online registration with a deadline lets you order shirts and staff to the number. UConn takes same-day registrations only if spots remain.

How long should a cheer clinic run?

About three to four hours. Texas Tech’s pom clinic runs 8:30 a.m. to noon, and UConn’s prep clinics run three hours.

What makes a good cheer clinic finale?

Your team, with the gym lights down, poms and bows lit in school colors and one color change on a count. Prospects see the team they want to make.

Can we give LED face stickers to kids at a junior session?

No. Our stickers use a coin battery, so they are for adults and older teens only. Give junior participants a shirt and a halftime spot.
