For dance team directors who want a glow number without new uniforms: our light-up bandanas, LED face stickers and LED pom poms add matched light to the uniform your team already owns, and they make their own light, so no blacklight rig is needed. Poms are $120 a pair on 10+ pairs; email us for bandana team pricing.

Which light-up accessories should a dance team order for a glow number?

Glow dance costumes: nine dancers in green light-up bandanas and black crop tops, arms raised on a dark theater stage

Glow dance costumes do not have to mean new costumes. Keep the uniform, add one light-up layer every dancer wears, and add a second for the moments that need more. Three accessories cover most teams:

  • Light-up bandana at the neck: the affordable group piece. A standard 22 x 22 in bandana with solid, twinkle and flash settings and 10+ hours on replaceable coin-cell batteries, in Pink, White, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Purple and Blue.
  • LED face stickers at the eyes: six shapes, reusable and water resistant, in flash, blink and twinkle, about 4+ hours on one CR2032 coin battery each.
  • LED pom poms in the hands for pom numbers: the LEDs are built into the pom, not a single light in the handle, and one remote changes every pair together.

For stage troupes, the LED fringe garter belt and the LED halter harness add a costume-level layer over a bodysuit; both are handmade for your team.

LED makes its own light, so the number works on any stage

Glow costumes usually mean one of three things, and only one brings its own light.

Option What makes it glow What your team gets
Glow in the dark paint or fabric Light stored from a bright lamp, given back slowly A glow that fades within minutes to a few hours
Blacklight (UV-reactive) costumes The venue’s blacklights A glow only inside the blacklights’ reach
LED accessories Batteries in the piece Light with the house lights up or down, in the color you pick

Glow in the dark material has to be charged with a bright light, and its glow then fades out (source: Phosphorescence (Wikipedia)). A blacklight emits long-wave UV-A light and very little visible light, and UV-reactive materials glow under it (source: Blacklight (Wikipedia)), so that effect belongs to the venue, not the costume. LED accessories light on any stage, and they still glow in a blacklight room. Our guide to glow in the dark vs blacklight vs LED compares them in detail.

Build the look in layers

Each accessory sits in a different place, so they stack without crowding the uniform.

Accessory Where it sits Light settings Best for
Light-up bandana Tied at the neck Solid, twinkle, flash; 10+ hours Every dancer, every routine
LED face stickers Along the eyes Flash, blink, twinkle; about 4+ hours Game nights, showcases, theme nights
LED pom poms Both hands Any color by remote; 3 to 4 hours per charge Pom numbers, halftime and timeouts
LED fringe garter belt At the hips Rechargeable, multiple modes Stage troupes and featured dancers
LED halter harness Over a bodysuit or crop top Color-changing Featured dancers and soloists

Pick one color for the team and set every piece to it. The stickers have no solid mode, so they add sparkle on top of the solid bandana color rather than replacing it.

Teams that order glow accessories

Glow dance costumes with orange light-up pom poms: eight dancers in orange tops and black skirts on a dark stage

Directors of pro, college, studio-senior and adult dance teams order these for glow nights, theme nights, halftime and timeout routines and showcases. Game-presentation staff order them for lights-out moments in arenas, when the house goes dark and the team is the only light on the floor. Our LED pom poms are already on the field: the Purdue Golduster Dance Team ordered 24 pairs in September 2026.

Poms are the one piece with a published team rate: $120 a pair on 10 or more pairs. Pair them with bandanas in the same color and the whole team glows from the neck to the hands.

How many of each should you order?

Start from the roster and decide which dancers get which layer.

Roster size Pieces What to send
5 to 10 dancers A bandana and a face sticker set for every dancer Color, event date
11 to 20 dancers Bandanas for all; poms for the pom number Color, number of pom dancers, event date
21 to 30 dancers Bandanas for all as the matched layer; poms and stickers for the front line Roster by row, color, event date
Featured dancers LED fringe garter belt or LED halter harness Sizes and event date

Order one pair of poms per pom dancer (each pair is two poms, one for each hand), plus a few spare bandanas and coin cells for show night.

Battery safety and show-day care

The bandana and the face stickers run on coin-cell batteries. The CPSC warns that a swallowed coin battery can burn through a child’s throat in as little as two hours (source: U.S. CPSC), so these accessories are for adult, pro, college and older-teen teams, with batteries handled by adults and kept away from young children.

  • Put fresh coin cells in the bandanas before show night; solid mode lasts longest.
  • Charge the poms fully the day before. White and rainbow modes drain faster, so save them for short moments.
  • One person holds the pom remote. It reaches about 65 to 80 ft with a clear line of sight, so pick the spot and rehearse the cue.
  • The stickers stay cool on the skin and are reusable, so collect them after the show for the next one.

Frequently asked questions

Do LED accessories need a blacklight?

No. They make their own light, so they glow with the house lights up or down, and in a blacklight room too.

Are light-up bandanas right for a youth dance team?

The bandana runs on coin-cell batteries, which should be handled by adults. We recommend it for adult, pro, college and older-teen teams, not young kids.

Do the face stickers hold up through a routine?

They are water resistant and built to last through sweat and rain, and they stay cool on the skin. They flash, blink and twinkle for about 4+ hours on one CR2032 coin battery.

How do the pom poms match the rest of the team?

One remote changes every pair to the same color together, so set the poms to your bandana color. The LEDs are built into the pom, not a single light in the handle.

How long do the lights last?

The bandana runs 10+ hours depending on the setting, the face stickers about 4+ hours, and the poms 3 to 4 hours per charge (white and rainbow drain faster).

How do we get team pricing?

Poms are $120 a pair on 10 or more pairs. For bandanas and the other pieces, email info@neoncowboys.com with “Team order” in the subject, plus your roster size, sizes, colors and event date.
