What should a team order for light-up competition costumes?
One costume that works for the whole season. Competition weekends are a few days a year; showcases, recitals, game nights and parades fill the rest. Our light-up pieces are sequin and fringe costumes first. With the power off they are a matched sequin look; with the power on they glow in your team color on every dark stage.
For most senior, college and adult teams that means one of three orders:
- The LED fringe sequin dress on every dancer for jazz, pom and kick routines.
- A harness over a catsuit or bodysuit for hip-hop, contemporary and lyrical, and variety routines.
- The LED fringe sequin jacket for the walk-on, the awards and the showcase opener.
Light-up costumes by routine style
Dance teams compete in categories such as jazz, pom, hip hop, contemporary/lyrical, kick and variety, the examples the USASF Dance Rules give for a category (source: USASF Dance Rules 2026–27). Here is how teams match our pieces to each style:

How do you size a competition costume order for 5 to 30 dancers?
Start with one sheet: every dancer’s name, bust, waist and hip in inches, and which piece each dancer wears. Then:
- LED fringe sequin dress: standard US sizes XS to 4X in stretch fabric, with adjustable straps, snap closures at the base and built-in bra cup pockets.
- Full LED body harness: a full-body cage harness in glossy black straps and silver O-rings, with color-changing LEDs from the choker down, worn over a catsuit, bodysuit or unitard. It is handmade for your team; send your event date and we will tell you plainly what fits.
- LED halter harness: a triangle-cut halter bralette with LEDs down every line, also handmade for your team.
- LED fringe sequin jacket: one size, US women’s small to large.

Matched light on stage and on video
Synchronization is what teams train for. At the Universal Dance Association College National Championships, held January 16 to 18, 2026, in Orlando, teams were judged on technique, synchronization and performance quality (source: Dance Spirit). Matched costumes make a line look like one shape. On a dark showcase stage or in a game-night set, matched light does the same from the back row and in every phone video from the stands.
- Set one solid color on every piece before the team goes on.
- Charge everything the night before. The dress and the jacket each give 4+ hours of continuous light per charge.
- Label remotes and power packs with each dancer’s name.
- Do a lights-off check in the wings, looking down the line before the cue.
Competition rules vary by event, so check with your event producer before using anything lit in a judged routine.
Walk-ons, awards and the showcase opener
The jacket does its work around the routine. Teams wear it over warm-ups or costumes for the walk-on, for team photos and the awards, and for the opening number at the home showcase. LED fringe runs front and back, in one solid color or color-changing modes by wireless remote, with 4+ hours from the included 5000mAh power bank. It is one size, US women’s small to large, and water resistant.
