The strongest brand activations give guests something to wear and photograph. Light-up event swag does both: guests wear it on site, it shows up in every photo, and they keep it. Neon Cowboys has designed light-up pieces for Topo Chico’s Bolo Chico campaign, a branded activation at Stagecoach, and light-up pillows gifted at Cash App’s activation at Topgolf Las Vegas.
What makes a brand activation work?
A guest has to do something with the brand and leave with proof. The most shared activations create a photo moment, and the best swag is the piece guests wear in that photo. Apple used a Neon Cowboys LED cowboy hat to show off the iPhone 13’s Night mode; Google put our Out Past Midnight light-up boots on six-story “Find That Thing” billboards. Light reads on camera, which is why brands keep choosing it.

What did we make for brand activations?

- Topo Chico, “Bolo Chico.” A custom production and marketing campaign: bespoke light-up pieces for the beverage brand’s experiential activation. See the Topo Chico case study.
- AEG and Live Nation at Stagecoach. Branded merchandise and a brand activation at the festival.
- Cash App at Topgolf Las Vegas. Light-up pillows and branded keepsakes gifted to guests at the activation.
- A University of Texas alumni VIP suite. 1,000 custom light-up face stickers; see the University of Texas alumni suite case study.
Which event swag do guests keep?
The piece they wore. Printed event swag, a tote or a pen, is used or left behind; the average promotional product is kept about eight months (source: ASI Global Ad Impressions Study, 2016). A light-up piece worn in the photos comes out again at the next party. If the budget only stretches to printed swag, buy it knowing what the light-up version would have done.
How much event merchandise do you need?
Count the guests you want wearing it, then add spares for staff, hosts and late arrivals. Minimums for custom light-up pieces are set per project; a piece built to a lower unit cost needs a higher quantity. Custom light-up cowboy hats start at 500 and custom-shape LED face stickers at 1,000. Our project form’s budget options start at $5,000 to $10,000.

Which brands use light-up activations?
Brands whose audience goes out at night, and brands that sell on camera. Beverage brands use light at festivals and bars; Topo Chico’s Bolo Chico is one example. Beauty brands use it for photo moments; Essie featured Neon Cowboys in a national magazine ad campaign. Tech brands use it to show what a camera or screen can do; Apple used our LED cowboy hat for iPhone 13 Night mode. Festivals and promoters use it for sponsor activations and pass add-ons, as at Stagecoach. Google put our Out Past Midnight light-up boots on its “Find That Thing” billboards for the same reason: light gets noticed.
How do you brief an activation piece?
Send the brand, the event, the guest count, the date and the photo moment you want. We design the piece around it, sample it and make the run. See custom light-up tour merch, branded LED face stickers for corporate events and light-up promotional products.
Send us the artist or brand, the look, the piece, your quantity, your budget and your dates. We make our light-up pieces ourselves and will tell you plainly what fits. Our project form’s budget options start at $5,000 to $10,000.
