For costume designers dressing a club or rave scene in a thriller or drama: we build LED harnesses, light-up jackets, face jewelry and custom props that glow on the dance floor, with color and brightness set by remote to match your palette. Hero pieces and crowd multiples are quoted; send us your scenes and cast size.
What should a costume designer order for a nightclub or rave scene?

A club scene in a thriller or drama is a dark room full of people, and the camera needs light on the bodies, not only on the ceiling. Light-up wardrobe puts it there. We design and build it in four lanes:
- Hero wardrobe for the principals: LED harnesses, light-up jackets and one-off pieces designed for a character.
- Crowd multiples of our pieces in your colors, so the dance floor reads as one world.
- Hand props from scratch: the glowing device the plot turns on, or a prop that has to light on a line.
- Set pieces: a light-up bar front or DJ booth facade that sits in the shot.
The LEDs are built into each piece, with color by remote, programmable patterns and rechargeable packs hidden in the costume. We sell everything outright; custom work is quoted.
Hero harnesses and jackets for the principals
Our LED harness is the club piece we are known for. From the remote you pick a single solid color, a slow fade or a color change, and turn the brightness up or down. It runs about 4+ hours per charge on a rechargeable power bank, adjusts to chests from 34 to 44 inches and wipes clean. For a bigger silhouette we also make the full LED body harness, the LED rib cage harness and the LED halter harness.
We have built custom light-up pieces for artists: a custom LED hand harness for Beyoncé, a light-up suit for Machine Gun Kelly and a custom LED belt buckle for Doechii. For a principal’s look we design from your sketches and build a hero piece plus a double.

Dress the dance floor: crowd multiples and face jewelry

Background actors in a rave scene need light too, in pieces a costume team can put on a crowd fast. Our LED face stickers sit around the eye like jewelry and flash, blink or twinkle (there is no solid mode) for about 4+ hours on a replaceable CR2032 coin battery. They stay cool, are water resistant and are reusable. Face jewelry pairs well with eyewear: we made custom light-up sunglasses for Kim Petras, and Doja Cat wore our LED glasses.
Hand the stickers to adult cast only, keep spare and used batteries with the set costumer, and follow the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s coin-battery guidance (source: U.S. CPSC). For larger crowds, multiples of our harnesses and jackets read at a distance, all set to one color plan.

Match the club’s color plan
Club sets are lit by the room, so the wardrobe has to sit inside the palette. On FX’s What We Do in the Shadows, the Sassy Cat club was a real Toronto club with LED lights dropping from the ceiling, and cinematographer D.J. Stipsen built it on blue, orange and red, with green for one room (source: SYFY WIRE). On the Tron: Legacy set, the End of Line club was a built lounge with glass floors and black and white lights, and dozens of extras wore real, glowing suits (source: /Film).
Our pieces are built for that job. Each harness and jacket changes color by remote, so the costume team can set the room to blue for one scene and red for the next. If a principal needs light-line suits like the ones audiences know from Tron, we design them as one-off hero wardrobe, and dress the crowd around them in multiples of our pieces.
Hero, stunt and background versions for a club scene
| Version | Who wears it | What we build | Light behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hero | Principals in close-ups | A harness, jacket or one-off piece with working remote color and brightness | Solid color or slow fade, set to the scene |
| Double | The same principals, for continuity and reshoots | An identical second piece | The same setting, logged per scene |
| Stunt | The fight or the fall on the dance floor | A softer version with the pack padded and moved off the impact side | Lit or unlit, as the stunt coordinator needs |
| Background | The crowd | Multiples of our harnesses, jackets and face jewelry | One color plan across the room |
| Set piece | The room itself | A light-up bar front or DJ booth facade | Color by remote, in the shot as a practical |
Tell us the count for each row and we will quote the set as one order.
How do you keep the light the same from take to take?
Pick a mode, not random cycling: a single solid color or a slow fade matches across cuts, where a fast color change lands on a different color in every take. Log the remote setting for each piece in each scene in the continuity notes. Charge every pack the night before, keep a spare pack for each hero piece on the costume truck and swap at lunch; the harness and jacket run about 4+ hours per charge, and the jacket runs longer at lower brightness. Give the remotes to one set costumer so nobody changes a color between setups.
Our pieces have been filmed for Apple’s iPhone 13 night-mode campaign and for Google’s commercials. Talk to us about your camera and lighting plan before you lock the look.
