A lot of stores now sell light-up cowboy boots — Glow Western, Neon Lucid, Cowboy LED, Neon Spur and others. Neon Cowboys® made the original light-up heeled cowboy boot in 2016, before the category existed. The practical differences to check are glow time (ours run 8–11+ hours on replaceable AA batteries; many copies advertise "up to 4 hours"), whether the seller publishes a real address and refund policy, and whether the ad makes false claims about being sold at Target, Costco or Walmart.
Why there are suddenly so many of these stores
Our boots went viral. Predictably, a wave of stores appeared selling versions of the same idea, and a parallel wave of AI-generated ads started circulating — ads with morphing footage and false claims that the boots are stocked at major retailers. Those ads are not run by us, and in many cases they are not run by the stores they point at either.
So there are really two separate questions, and it helps to keep them apart:
- Is this specific ad honest? If it claims Target, Costco or Walmart, no. Those claims are false.
- Is this specific store worth buying from? That varies. Some are real retailers. Some are anonymous dropshippers. The checklist below sorts them.
The original vs. the copies: what actually differs

The glow-time gap is the one that matters most in practice. A boot that dies after four hours does not survive a festival day, a wedding reception or a full performance set. Ours are built to run the whole night and then take fresh batteries.
How to check any light-up boot store before you buy
- Look for a real address and phone number. Legitimate retailers publish them. Anonymous storefronts usually do not.
- Check the stated glow time. "Up to 4 hours" and "8–11+ hours" are very different products.
- Be sceptical of big-box claims. If an ad says these are sold at Target, Costco or Walmart, that is a documented false claim — see our breakdown.
- Watch for fake trust badges. Trustpilot images that don't link to Trustpilot, and "money-back guarantee" graphics with no policy behind them, are common.
- Watch the video itself. In AI-generated ads the boots morph, the heel shape changes between frames, and the light behaves inconsistently.
- Reverse-image search the photos. Copies frequently reuse other brands' product photography.
- Read the refund policy before ordering, not after.

- Glow Western — an online storefront selling transparent LED boots, advertising "up to 4 hours of glow." It uses heavy urgency marketing ("today only", "50+ orders in the last 24h") and we could not find a published business address.
- Neon Spur — a Texas-based equestrian retailer with a published address, phone number and refund policy. At the time of writing their site shows a business closing / liquidation notice, so check their terms carefully before ordering.
