What did the Purdue Goldusters do with their poms?

The Golduster Dance Team, founded in 1980, is the dance team of the Purdue “All-American” Marching Band. It practises five days a week with the band in the fall and performs at all home football games and select other sporting events (source: Purdue Bands: Golduster Dance Team). In September 2026 the team ordered 24 pairs of our light-up pom poms with white metallic streamers and performed with them on the field with the band at a night home game.

Our footage shows two things a band director will want to see: an aerial view of the band’s formation with the Goldusters’ poms glowing white inside it, and the dancers on the field with their poms switching through green, blue and purple from one remote. The lights on the band itself are the band’s own, not ours. The full order, the footage and a planning guide for other programs are in the Purdue Goldusters case study.

The Purdue Golduster Dance Team is a customer of ours. Purdue University, its bands and the Goldusters do not sponsor or endorse Neon Cowboys.

What did the Las Vegas Raiderettes order?

The Las Vegas Raiderettes are the cheer team of the Las Vegas Raiders, with more than six decades of history; for the squad’s 60th anniversary, more than 500 former Raiderettes reunited, with a halftime performance at Allegiant Stadium featuring past and present members (source: Las Vegas Raiders). The team came to us for a glowing, colour-changing look on the field.

  • Streamers: metallic silver.
  • Light: cool-white and full-colour LEDs built into the poms.
  • Control: a handheld remote that changes colour and light mode.
  • Sync: one remote runs the whole line, so every pom changes together.

Under stadium floodlights, silver streamers sparkle like any metallic pom; when the light drops, the line glows cool white or switches to any colour on the remote. The order and what pro dance teams plan around it are in the Las Vegas Raiderettes case study.

What do teams of each type use light-up pom poms for?

Team type Where light-up poms earn their place What to plan
College band dance teams and dance lines Night football with the marching band: formations, sidelines and halftime A colour for each formation, written into the drill
Pom lines in athletic bands Football with the marching band, then basketball with the pep band One set for every sport; spares for travel
College cheer and dance teams Night games, lights-down introductions and arena timeouts Team colours all season, a cause colour on theme nights
High school cheer, dance and pom squads Friday night football, pep rallies and homecoming One matched set; an adult owns charging
Pro cheer and dance teams Lights-down introductions, halftime features and theme nights The squad’s colour on the same cue sheet as the lighting
Arena dance teams for basketball and hockey Dark-arena intros and in-game features The remote holder near the line, not in the tunnel

Where they don’t pay off: daytime games in full sun, where the light is hard to see and the poms look like metallic poms.Competition rules vary by event, so check with your event producer before using anything lit in a judged routine. What should a team send us to order?

A complete first email gets a complete quote back. Send us:

  • The team and its type: school, club or pro, and whether it is a dance team, cheer squad, pom line or band dance line.
  • How many performers carry poms, plus how many spare pairs you want.
  • Your streamer colour: teal, orange, hot pink, purple, green, silver, red, blue, gold or white, or a custom mix on 10 or more pairs.
  • Your light colours: team colours, white and any cause or theme-night colours on your calendar.
  • A split set, if you want the raised pom one colour and the low pom another.
  • Your first performance date, so we can tell you plainly what fits.
  • Who pays: a school or club purchase order, a booster card or a team account, and who signs.

For the order steps and paperwork, see the team rate and order steps.

How many pairs does a team need, and what does it cost?

One pair per performer who carries poms, plus spares in the same order so the whole team matches all season. At our team rate of $120 a pair on 10 or more pairs:

Group Pairs Cost at the team rate
High school squad of 12 14 $1,680
Band dance line of 20 22 $2,640
College dance team of 24 26 $3,120
Pro cheer team of 30 33 $3,960

Pair counts include two spares, three on the pro row. Every pom is about 7 oz with a rechargeable lithium-ion pack that charges by USB-C and lasts about 2 to 4 hours a charge, depending on colour and mode.

How can your team be featured on this page?

If your team performs with our light-up pom poms, send us the footage and we will consider it for this page and for a case study of its own.

  • Video from the night: phone clips from the stands, the sideline or the press box all work. A shot of the whole line changing colour is the one other coaches want to see.
  • An aerial or high-angle shot, if your program has one.
  • The facts you want us to use: the team’s name, its type and the event, in your words.
  • Permission from whoever signs off on media for your program.

We write up only what you confirm. We never publish order numbers, prices you paid or anyone’s personal details, and a featured team is a customer, not a sponsor. Send footage to info@neoncowboys.com or DM us on Instagram.

How do you request a quote for your team?

Email or DM us with your team type, the number of performers who carry poms, your streamer and light colours and your first performance date. We make our light-up products ourselves and will tell you plainly what fits your date. See team orders for how a group order works.
