Light-Up LED Pom Poms
Metallic streamers with LEDs built into the pom, a rechargeable pack, and one remote that changes the whole team’s color at once.
$145 USD per pair
Arena halftime shows increasingly run on court projection and synchronized lighting, which means the house lights go down for the moment fans film. When they do, a dance team in standard poms disappears into the dark. Give the team light-up poms on the same colour cue as the production, and the dancers become part of the show instead of silhouettes in front of it. Our team rate on light-up pom poms is $120 a pair on 10 or more pairs.
How are arenas staging halftime now?

Court projection and show lighting have moved from special events into regular game nights:
- The Philadelphia 76ers were the third NBA team to permanently adopt projection mapping for introductions and halftime, turning the court into a projection canvas (source: Full Sail University).
- The Cleveland Cavaliers were the first NBA team to install permanent 3D projection and motion-tracking technology in their home arena (source: Commercial Integrator).
- At the Intuit Dome, lighting effects are synchronized with pregame introductions, halftime shows and team performances (source: Mondo-DR).
For a game-presentation department, that changes what the dance team needs. When the lighting is part of the show, the performers have to be lit too.
What happens to the dance team when the lights go down?
Projection needs a dark room to read. In a dark room, metallic poms only sparkle where a spotlight hits them, so most of the line turns into silhouettes. Light-up poms make their own light, so the formation stays visible from every seat, and the colour can be set to match the projection.
| Moment | Metallic poms | Light-up poms |
|---|---|---|
| Full arena light | Bright | Bright |
| Projection on the court, house lights down | Silhouettes | The formation reads from the upper deck |
| Colour change in the show | Fixed colour | Switches on the same cue |
| Theme night | New set needed | Same set, new colour |
How do you build a lights-down halftime routine?
- Start in full light so the crowd sees the team take the floor.
- Drop the house lights on a musical hit and let the poms carry the formation.
- Sync the colour with the projection: one cue for the production, one for the team’s remote.
- Use simple, big shapes. Ripples, level changes and diagonals read in the dark; small detail does not.
- Bring the lights back on the final pose so the crowd sees the team at the finish.
What will a halftime set cost?
Our team rate is $120 a pair on 10 or more pairs:
| Team | Pairs (with 2 spares) | Cost at the team rate |
|---|---|---|
| Dance team of 16 | 18 | $2,160 |
| Dance team of 20 | 22 | $2,640 |
| Dance team of 24 | 26 | $3,120 |
Shipping is quoted with the order.
Which nights get the most out of a lights-down halftime?
- Opening night and playoff games, when the production is at its biggest.
- Theme nights, with a colour change to the cause or holiday colour. See theme night ideas for pro games.
- Glow and neon nights, where darkness is the theme.
- Nationally televised games, where the moment travels furthest.
What should game presentation plan with the dance team?
- The cue sheet: which count the lights drop and which count the colour changes.
- Safety: enough edge light for the dancers to see the floor markings.
- Rehearsal time in the dark, in the arena, before the first game it is used.
- Charging and spares kept with the team’s game-day kit.
Who pays for the team's set?
The order usually comes from one of three budgets:
- The dance team’s own equipment budget, when the set replaces poms the team would buy anyway.
- Game presentation, when the set is bought for the show: introductions, halftime and theme nights.
- A presenting sponsor. Theme nights often carry one; the Blue Jackets’ 2026–27 Hockey Fights Cancer night is presented by OhioHealth (source: "+SRC_CBJ+") and the Ducks’ by UCI Health (source: "+SRC_DUCKS+"). A sponsor that wants its colour on the floor can fund a set that glows that colour on its night and team colours the rest of the season.
How do you test the look before the first game?
- Book a dark rehearsal in the arena with the production running, not in a practice room.
- Walk to the upper deck and watch the formation from the cheapest seat; that is the view most fans have.
- Film it on a phone from the stands, because that is how the moment travels.
- Check every colour you plan to use against the uniforms and the projection.
- Run the colour cue with the captain on the remote until it lands on the count every time.
How do you order a halftime set?
Email or DM us with the number of performers, the team colours, the theme colours you need on the remote and the date of your first game. We make the light-up pom poms ourselves and will tell you plainly what fits your timeline. See team orders for how a squad order works.
Frequently asked questions
How do arenas do lights-down halftime shows?
Many arenas now use court projection and synchronized show lighting. The 76ers use permanent projection mapping for introductions and halftime, and the Intuit Dome synchronizes lighting with halftime shows and team performances.
How does a dance team stay visible when the arena lights go down?
With light-up poms that make their own light and can switch colour on the same cue as the projection.
How many pom poms does a halftime dance team need?
One pair per dancer plus two or three spares, ordered together so they match.
How much does a light-up halftime set cost?
Our team rate is $120 a pair on 10 or more pairs. A 20-member dance team with two spares is 22 pairs, or $2,640 at that rate.

Which games are best for a lights-down halftime?
Opening night, playoff games, theme and glow nights, and nationally televised games.
